Ingredients
  

Chole
  • 1 cup chickpeas
  • 1/2 tsp see note below emli paste
  • 1 tbsp chole masala
  • 1 tbsp (grated) ginger
  • 1/2 green chile
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • few sprigs cilantro
  • taste salt
  • 4 cups water
Patties (2 people)
  • 4 potatoes
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • taste salt

Method
 

  1. Chole
  2. Soak chick peas overnight.
  3. Boil in cooker with water using pressure cooker method. (Wait for 4-5 whistles and turn off gas)
  4. Open the cooker, you can add/subtract water according to the consistency you want.
  5. Add in all other items.
  6. Patties
  7. Boil the potatoes.
  8. Peel and mash the potatoes.
  9. Shape the potatoes into a pattie shape.
  10. In a shallow pan on medium heat, add the oil and put in the patties.
  11. Fry on both sides until crispy and slightly brown.
  12. Add chole and garnishing on top (see note below).
  13. Note: Garnishing - green chutney, tamarind chutney,  sev, onion, cilantro, chole.
