Gobi Manchurian is one of the few dishes enjoyed by every age group in my family whether we’re talking about the kids or my grandparents. Although people don’t generally like cooking for such a long period of time especially when they have other things to do; however, when making Gobi Manchurian, time flies by and you’re left there basking in the final masterpiece once it’s completely made. Spicy Penne with Broccoli and Garlic
Most Italian pasta dishes are drenched in either creamy white sauce or spiced up with tomato sauce. Booorrriinnggg! I was on a lookout for a pasta recipe without any sauce but full of flavors and resorted to few recipes doing the rounds in the blogosphere. This particular recipe of spicy penne with broccoli and garlic grabbed my attention as its one of those rare pasta fares without a speck of sauce in it. It used only garlic as well as red pepper flakes for the flavors and broccoli to make it heartier. Though, I wasn’t too sure about how it would actually turn out, but I did give it a try! As expected, it was bland and the pasta was too dry and chewy for my palate. May be pasta do needs a sauce to shine! [Read more…]
Gluten-Free Tabbouleh
Tabbouleh is undoubtedly one of my favorite salads from the Middle Eastern origin. However, now I see many people moving to a gluten-free diet which is what inspired this dish. Instead of using bulgur or couscous like the original tabbouleh uses, I swapped it with quinoa which is a much healthier option and it keeps you full for a longer period of time! [Read more…]
French Bean and Tomato Salad with Vinaigrette
French beans have always been my favorite type of beans and well, who doesn’t like tomatoes? Mexican-Style Lettuce Wrap
Fall’s all about wraps whether they are tortilla wraps, or lettuce wraps. Sometimes I feel like the wrap was created just for the fall! This recipe originates from the traditional lettuce wrap but because I felt that it was too bland for my liking, I decided to substitute the ingredients so they’d fit my taste. [Read more…]
Peanut Coriander (Cilantro) Chutney
My love for peanuts has no bounds. Apart from snacking on them during my leisurely hours, I am always on a lookout for a chance to use peanuts in a variety of dishes and enjoy them in every way possible. Whether I use them in desserts or blend them in a curry, peanuts seem to add a rustic essence to the delicacy and turn every helping into decadence. But it’s the simple peanut coriander chutney which pleased my taste buds the most! Its lip-smacking… it’s refreshing… it’s full of aroma – it has all the qualities one looks for in perfect chutney!
Strawberry Spinach Salad
Salads are undoubtedly my go-to-meals during the summer because I’m always out and about whether its with family, friends or school-related activities. They’re super easy to prepare, they’re good for your body and easy on the wallet too!
Recently my friend and I were talking about her immense dislike for spinach. She told me how she doesn’t like the plastic-like taste of spinach and the bitter aftertaste it leaves in her mouth. Coincidentally, I was eating my strawberry spinach salad so I forced her to eat a bite of it after catching her ogling at it with disgust. I was expecting her to spit it out immediately but surprisingly she quietly chewed and once she was done, she gave me a bright smile and snatched my salad bowl from me only to devour it all.
Focaccia Bread
I love the smell of homemade bread! Whenever I make this focaccia bread, it leaves a heavenly aroma drifting through my home. Often bread can be a bit difficult to make, as it requires a long process, but this recipe is definitely easy, even for those who have not attempted to make bread at home. [Read more…]
Mushroom-Garlic Toast
Garlic and mushrooms go hand in hand. No wonder the classic dish of garlic-mushrooms on toast is popular all over the world. There is something about the combination of crusty bread, rustic-flavored mushrooms and the aromatic garlic which makes this simple recipe a winner! I took a step further and sautéed the mushrooms with parsley and lemon pepper for more flavors and the outcome was indeed super-delicious! Next time, I’m planning to add a dollop of crème fraiche or clotted cream on top to fill it with creamy goodness. [Read more…]
Veggie Bow-Tie Pasta
Normal kids don’t necessarily enjoy eating vegetables, well at least not willingly but they do LOVE pasta! As a kid, I always felt a connection with pasta since they came in different shapes and sizes so I thought of them as toys and would play with them during my meals. My mom used this to her advantage because while I was distracted by my “toys”, she’d feed me veggies in between bites. [Read more…]
